Kate Gadsby Maps and Family History: Orange City Library

Tue 18 July at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Meet avid historian Kate Gadsby talking about using maps in your family history research.

Australian history is author Kate Gadsby’s passion. An avid historian, she has spent much of the past 25 years researching history of the Nubrygyn district, Euchareena. This research took her to the archives, libraries, Land Titles Office and mapping authorities of NSW.

Kate’s resulting book Convicts, Capitalists and Corruption spans the arrival of convict ships in Sydney Cove to exploration and settlement at Bathurst, Nubrygyn, Wellington and the land in the ‘outer limits’ beyond the Nineteen Counties.

Kate says Australians are fortunate to have a wealth of written European history dating back to James Cook and the landing of the First Fleet in 1788. Also, as these documents become digitised it makes them accessible for all Australians to share.

Meet devoted historian and author Kate Gadsby when she talks about Maps and Family History at Orange City Library on Tuesday 18 July at 2pm. All welcome. The event is part of Orange Family History Group’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations.
