Classic Album Night – Joni Mitchell’s Blue
Thu 21 April at 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$25
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Imogen Clark will perform Joni Mitchell’s iconic ‘Blue’ album in its entirety to celebrate 50 years.
Featuring classic songs like ‘River’, ‘A Case of You’, ‘California’,‘Carey’, ‘My Old Man’ and more, ‘Blue’ is one of the most influential albums of all time, inspiring generations of incredible songwriters and musicians.
“Joni Mitchell is my idol as a songwriter and an artist,” says Imogen, “and these songs are indelibly tattooed on my soul. Blue has been my favourite album sinceI first heard it as a teenager, and I can’t wait to perform this incredible group of songs live”.
Armed with guitars, keyboards and the Appalachian dulcimer, whose sound is so uniquely identified with this album, Imogen will perform the show in two acts-the first performing the songs of Blue from start to finish in the order of the record, and the second showcasing some of Joni’s most beautiful songs from across the rest of her career like Both Sides Now and Chelsea Morning, and some of Imogen’s own songs that bear the stamp of Joni’s influence. Throughout the show, Imogen will share stories and memories of the stories behind some of the songs and the way that Joni’s music has helped guide her own life
