Battle of the Bands

Fri 13 September at 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

headspace Bathurst and Keystone 1889 will be hosting its second Battle of the Bands event at Keystone 1889 on Friday, September 13.

1. Entry to the event is free of charge and open to music groups of two or more people; however, please keep in mind that we’re marketing this as a ‘Battle of the Bands’ event promoting group participation rather than individual talent.

2. Entry is open to groups comprising solely of young people aged 12 to 25 in the Bathurst, Orange, Blayney, Oberon, Lithgow and Cowra local government areas.

3. First prize will be a $1500 Landers Music Voucher. Second and third place will get Landers Music vouchers to the tune of $1000 and $500 respectively, and there will also be a prize for Audience’s Choice and Judge’s Choice, as well as a lucky door prize

4. Seasoned performers will not be favoured over up and coming talent. Each act will be judged on a number of factors, including sound, performance, audience engagement and attitude.

5. Completion of this form doesn’t guarantee entry in this event, as only limited spots are available.

6. There is no restriction on genre, as long as the group incorporates instruments .

7. Each group will compete through a two-song performance lasting a maximum of 10 minutes. The performance doesn’t have to incorporate original material, however original material is strongly encouraged!

8. Artists must refrain from coarse language, racism, homophobia or references to drugs/alcohol during performances, depending on the context of the song*.

9. Each performance will be judged impartially by a panel with an open-minded approach to music. Their decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into on the night. Feedback and comments can be requested post-event.

10. Backline equipment will be provided in-house. Drummers are allowed to use their own snare drum, kick pedal, hi-hats and cymbals if required, as are guitarists/bass players with their own amplifiers, but performers must be conscious of the performance times mentioned in Guideline 7. All performers are responsible for their own equipment and no responsibility will be taken by the event organisers for any damaged or lost equipment.

• *If songs reference, but don’t glorify coarse language, racism, homophobia, drugs and alcohol, this can be negotiated at the discretion of the organisers.
