Flickerfest on Tour – Canowindra

Flickerfest, Australia’s largest Short Film Festival is excited to be returning on its National Tour to the Rosnay Vineyards Cellar Door, showcasing the Best of Australian Shorts programme highlights from their recent Bondi festival competition.
The short films screening are all entertaining, inspiring, award-winning and fresh from their premieres in competition at Flickerfest Bondi, giving Canowindra Flickerfest audiences a window into the hottest contemporary shorts from at home and across the world today.
The Best of Australian Shorts programme, screening on Sunday 15th October, shines a spotlight on the incredible short film talent that exists in our emerging Australian industry, with a host of Australian stories honoring our unique identity and culture. Highlights include many Flickerfest world premieres.
Don’t miss the delightful, quirky comedy ‘The Fritz’, where a confused man, Trevor Jamieson (Storm Boy) is forced to confront his big family at a overwhelming birthday event after being hit by a meteor (also featuring a cheeky cameo from Kamahl) and the colourful and insightful Torres Strait cultural drama ‘Katele’ (Mudskipper), about a woman longing for her island home, which won the Best Australian Short Film Award at Flickerfest 2023.
While a fun comedy ‘White Lies’ tells a modern day story of a father who will go to any lengths to further his daughters education, featuring a cheeky cameo from federal member of parliament Barnaby Joyce. Plus, there’ll be laughs-a-plenty as ‘Married at First Fleet’ follows a modern day 18th century couple in the Australian colony who are matched according to common interests, attractiveness and lack of diseases.
Other highlights include the delightful comedy from Brisbane director Lachlan Pendragon ‘An Ostrich Told Me The World Is Fake And I Think I Believe It’, recently nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Animation.
Make it a night to remember! Flickerfest – Rosnay Organic
Doors open at 6pm for drinks and pre-ordered lamb curry dinners or BYO picnics, to be followed by screening. Pre-ordered dinners made by Andrew Wooldridge from his own sheep which graze the Rosnay vineyards. Rosnay organic wine will be served, and BYO alcohol is not permitted. All adult tickets include a free glass of Rosnay wine or soft drink.
Classification: Children under 15yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
