Film Screening: Terror Nullius
Tue 23 February at 7:30 pm

Terror Nullius is a 55-minute film by Australian-born, New York-based video artists Soda_Jerk (siblings Dominique and Dan Angeloro) that makes a radical critique of Australian masculinity, refugee policy and our treatment of the Indigenous Australians. Part political satire, eco-horror and road movie, TERROR NULLIUS is a world in which minorities and animals conspire, and not-so-nice white guys finish last. Where idyllic beaches host race-riots, governments poll love-rights, and the perils of hypermasculinity are overshadowed only by the enduring horror of Australia’s colonising myth of terra nullius. Co-Presented by Bathurst Regional Art Gallery (BRAG) as part of the Inland Sea of Sound Festival and Just Not Australian exhibition, the film will be screen in the BMEC Theatre. Just Not Australian was curated by Artspace and developed in partnership with Sydney Festival and Museums & Galleries of NSW. The exhibition is touring nationally with Museums & Galleries of NSW. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body. Admission is free, however bookings are essential to secure your spot! Soda Jerk, TERROR NULLIUS (video still), 2018, HD video, 54 minutes. Commissioned by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne. Courtesy the artists.
