Exhibition: ‘Make Believe (Once upon a Time in Waspasia)’

Sat 13 April - Sun 9 June

Victor Gordon poses uneasy questions about the concept of a ‘lucky country’ and delves into a wide range of social issues.

Gordon, born in South Africa, draws inspiration from personal experiences and the social and political undercurrents from the past and present. As a socially engaged artist he opposes nationalism with a focus on social justice.

Working across painting, sculpture, and assemblage he manipulates symbols and metaphors to construct challenging artistic statements infused with humour and wit. While serious in subject the works are often imbued with absurdity in response to the irrationality of life.
