Developing Your Creative Arty Self- with Karen Ritchie

An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until Thu 30 June 2022,

Develop your creative, arty self by coming along for one, two or all eight sessions. These sessions are for those who have some experience in being creative and wish to explore and develop their art in a safe and supportive environment. An experienced tutor will be on hand to guide you in your art expression. There will be some time spent on structured teaching in each session, from 7pm to 7:30/7:45pm to explore a new technique or material. The rest of the time participants will work on their own art work while receiving advice, feedback and encouragement from the tutor. All art media and styles are acceptable eg drawing, watercolour, acrylics. Participants are encouraged to supply their own art materials, though some materials are available from Makerspace supplies. Some table easels will be available for those who require same.

High school students in Year 9 and above are welcome.

Week 1: 12 May 2022 – Watercolour washes – wet in wet. Learn a bit more about working with watercolour washes and wet in wet techniques.

Week 2: 19 May 2022 – Watercolour and inks. Explore and experiment with mixed media using inks and watercolour together.

Week 3: 26 May 2022 – Watercolour and masking fluid. Explore how to use masking fluid with watercolour to create a variety of effects.

Week 4: 2 June 2022 – Mono printing. Explore mono printing techniques, using natural and everyday objects.

Week 5: 9 June 2022 – Mixed media. Explore how to use a variety of media and materials together within your art.

Week 6: 16 June 2022 – Collage and watercolour and/or acrylics. Learn how to incorporate collage into your art work.

Week 7: 23 June 2022 – Acrylic mediums. Explore and experience different acrylic mediums and their uses and effects,

Week 8: 30 June 2022 – Expressive landscapes using acrylics. Explore how to create loose and expressive landscape paintings.
