ABOUT THE CURATOR:

Dr Mary-Elizabeth Andrews graduated with Class 1 Honours in Film Studies from Flinders University, South Australia, in 1997, before completing a Master of Museum Studies at The University of Sydney in 2009 and a PhD focusing on German collection development and interpretation in 2014.

She has delivered and curated numerous exhibitions both locally and internationally, including Paintings from the Collection at the State Library of NSW, and Zeitschichten for the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin, as well as developing the innovative Outdoor Exhibition Container at the Australian National Maritime Museum.

In 2020, Mary-Liz took the role of Museum Manager atOrange Regional Museum and has developed multiple exhibitions including the award-winning Mulaa Giilang: Wiradjuri stories of the night sky.

 

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: ORANGE 412: A HISTORY OF OUR LOCAL FIRE BRIGADE

2 March – 21 July 2024

Formed in 1869 after a terrible fire gutted the Nelson Bros warehouse on Byng Street, the Orange Volunteer Fire Brigade – today known as Fire and Rescue NSW Station 412 Orange – has a long tradition of serving the community and saving lives.

Join us for a hands-on exploration of the fascinating history of our local fire brigade. This family-friendly exhibition includes kids’ dress-ups, playful storytelling, and an interactive fire truck, alongside stunning images and historical firefighting equipment.
