Free
Immerse yourself in this fun 3 day holiday workshop for young people (13-19 Years) with local Cementa creatives!

Join us for a FREE fun-filled 3 day workshop for young people (13-19 years) at WAYOUT ARTSPACE, 71 Angus Avenue, Kandos! Get ready to unleash your creativity and dive into the world of cosplay – just in time for Ironfest at The Foundations in Portland!

Places are limited. Please do not book if your young person is unlikely to attend. If you miss out and would like to go on a waiting list, please email gabriellebatesartist@gmail.com.

The workshop will run daily between 10am and 3pm over three days in the Autumn School Holidays, 22-24 April. The theme is ‘Staying Alive’ to correspond with Ironfest in Portland the following weekend.

At the CEMENTA ‘Staying Alive’ COSPLAY HOLIDAY WORKSHOP, you’ll learn from experienced local artists Gus Armstrong, Alisa Burlington, Cheryl Murray and Gab Bates to discover the secrets behind bringing characters to life. From costume design to prop-making, recycling fashion & materials, wigs and makeup, this Autumn school holiday activity will have you covered.

The workshop is about free and flexible thinking, so you’ll be encouraged to create your own original characters, not just the characters you know and love. You’ll have access to all kinds of recycled materials and tools to help you bring your cosplay dreams to reality. You can also bring your own! Not only will you gain new skills, but you’ll also have the chance to meet fellow cosplayers and make lasting friendships.

FREE snacks and lunch will be available, and we can organise FREE bus transport home to Charbon, Clandulla or Rylstone. Please let Gab Bates know if you have any special dietary requirements by emailing gabriellebatesartist@gmail.com

NOTE: MUSIC WILL BE PLAYED DURING WORKSHOPS, so please bring noise reduction devices if needed. All facilitators carry current WWCC certification.

This Autumn Holiday Workshop is proudly supported by The NSW Government.
