AYO Young Symphonists in Concert

Join the AYO Young Symphonists for a vibrant program of orchestral music under the baton of Simon Hewett.
The program will open with Queensland-based composer Sam Dickenson’s Across the Years, followed by Britten’s beloved Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra. This set of variations based on a sweeping theme by Purcell gives every instrument in the ensemble a chance to shine.
Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2 will conclude the concert, featuring the composer’s beautiful and heart-wrenching melodies unfolding with rich orchestral colour.
Composed of 60 musicians between the ages of 13 and 18, the Young Symphonists orchestra will transport you as they play with musical sophistication beyond their years.
Tickets for this concert are free, however bookings will incur an associated booking fee from BMEC
