Astro Photography Workshop Blue Mountains

Join Scott Stramyk for an in-depth workshop dedicated to night photography in the art of wide field Astro photography.

The Blue Mountains is known for its incredible cliffs and gumtrees, A popular spot to visit for waterfalls but what it also has is amazing night skies for shooting the milkyway. What better way to learn the art of astro photography than to explore the historic land of the Blue Mountains and learn the techniques of light painting to illuminate your foreground to create interesting astro photos with the historic sites of Hartley in the foreground. Why not take your photography to the next level but gaining the skills to capturing beautiful images on the night sky while surrounded by other like minded and keen photographers.

During this 2.5 hour workshop Scott will be going through a live demonstration of the fundamentals of wide field Astro photography. How to plan out your future evening and set up your camera to achieve amazing photos and processing techniques to achieve the most desired effects all while picking up other great tips on light painting. This is a small sized group that is designed to give each participant dedicated one on one time with Scott to make sure you get the most out of this event.

Topics covered:

• Introduction to Wide Field Astro photography

• Planning for the best composition using the right apps

• Framing and focusing on the night sky

• How to calculate the correct shutter speed for Astro photography

• Night time long exposure techniques and tips

• How to light paint your scene to create interest and balance with your astro photo.

• How to process your astro photos

Recommended equipment:

You will need a camera, wide angle lens, a sturdy tripod and a headtorch is a must to have for this workshop.

Please bring your remote switch for Bulb exposures

Also bring warm clothes, gloves, beanie as it does get very cold at night
