Artist Talk – John R Walker Tickets, Fri 24/11/2023 at 5:30 pm | Eventbrite
Presenting selected paintings, works on paper and sketchbooks, ‘Journeys and Return’ covers the full breadth of John R Walker’s extraordinary practice over the last 25 years.
Walker’s paintings and drawings emerge from time spent immersed in the Australian landscape, from the Southern Tablelands near his home and more recently around Ghaana Bula (Mount Canobolas) in the Central West of New South Wales.
The exhibition includes searing works from Walker’s experiences of the 2019 bushfires, as well as pared-back paintings from journeys through the vast Hay Plains of Western New South Wales. Recent travels in remote areas of the Flinders Ranges, including Glass Gorge, Oratunga and Vathiwarta have seen an evolution in Walker’s painting where earth and sky reverberate with shared spaciousness.
Exhibition dates: 25 November 2023 – 21 January 2024
John R Walker is represented by Utopia Art, Sydney
