Art and Stay Mudgee

Sat 11 March - Wed 12 April

Rosby Wines have today announced the ultimate art and wine experience in Mudgee this March. As part of their highly anticipated 2023 artistic program, Rosby is offering a special promotion on the
weekend of Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of March for guests to stay at the exclusive Rosby Guesthouse and attend an intimate painting art workshop with David Newman-White.

Guests will have the option of one or two nights’ accommodation in the luxury Rosby Guesthouse on
Saturday the 11th and Sunday the 12th of March. Breakfast, morning tea & lunch will be provided
each day, accompanied by their award-winning Rosby wines. Guests will attend an intimate painting
workshop with tutor David Newman-White in the unique and tranquil art studio overlooking the Rosby
vineyard, followed by a private wine tasting with vigneron, Gerry Norton-Knight.
David Newman-White is an artist based in Australia whose paintings have been exhibited nationally,
in the United States and Switzerland. Fascinated by the portraits and figurative works of the Baroque
artists, as well as religious themes and imagery, Newman-White’s distinctive expressive
representational style conveys the complex emotions of his subjects. In his artistic practice, he places
importance on the division of space, the shell, and its vortexes. He creates exclusively using oils,
favouring mixed techniques.
This workshop has a focus on expression through painting media on canvas images relating to
spiritual life. It is suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to art aficionados. Learn the
basics of a new skill or hone your craft from the master himself. Regardless of your level of ability,
you’ll feel immersed in the environment and walk away with the confidence to paint like you have
done for years.
This is the perfect opportunity for anyone needing to get away for a night or two and enjoy a fabulous
weekend in the bush, that will leave them feeling inspired and refreshed.
The annual art workshop program has been held at Rosby for well over a decade, bringing highly
sought-after tutors to the region. The classes are hugely successful year on year with each of the
events being sold-out successes year on year.
The artistic program, a drawcard for visitors to Mudgee and locals from the region, offers something
to suit all interests and level of experience from amateurs to art aficionados.
Highlights of the art workshop program for 2023 include returning favourites: Limestone Carving led
by Damien Lucas, Pen and Ink Masterclass with Stephen Hall, Beginners Guide to Welding with
Maurice Berry, Spiritual Painting with David Newman-White and Landscapes with Peter Griffen. Brand
new in 2023 is the welcoming of a brand-new tutor, Michael Bourke, who will lead a workshop on
Surrealism Painting.
