Matt Ottley: The Tree of Ecstasy and Unbearable Sadness

Sat September 14 - Sun October 13

This exhibition of works on paper and canvas by polymath Matt Ottley (author, artist, illustrator, composer, musician) has been created as a point of entry to speaking publicly about the stigma and experience of living with a psychotic illness. Images move from real to hyperreal to surreal, and range from graphite to oil to mixed media as they plot the author’s personal journey into psychosis. The works represent a selection of images from an illustrated book for young adult readers to be published by Dirt Lane Press Inc.

Matt Ottley works across many creative platforms, including fine art, illustration, musical composition and writing, and multi-media combinations of all four. His musical works are regularly performed by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
