Welcome to our BIG list of arts and cultural events happening in the NSW Central West gathered from artists, event producers, great local venues and groups across the region.

This is a busy artistic region. There’s usually more than 2000 arts and heritage events happeing in the region each year. Of course, 2020 looks a little different but the events are slowly returning where possible.

NEW: HAPPENING ONLINE. We’ve added a new category for workshops, exhibitions, virutal tours and activities that are now happening ONLINE. Click here for the listings

The Banjo Paterson … more than a Poet Exhibition was opened by the Hon Tim Fischer AO on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson.
This is the only exhibition in Australia dedicated to the life and times of Banjo Paterson.
We all know that Banjo was a poet and storyteller, but many people do not reliase  that  he was also a solicitor, war correspondent, newspaper editor, soldier, journalist, sports commentator, jockey, farmer and a great adventurer.
Come along for a visit and a cuppa – you  will enjoy an unique experience.
Yeoval is the childhood home of Andrew Barton ‘Banjo’ Paterson, who was born on 17th February 1864 at “Narrambla” near Orange.
Banjo spent the first 7 years of his life at Yeoval before the family moved to “IIlalong” near Yass.
From humble beginnings this hero of Australian Literature rose to fame across the world through his poetry and prose. Banjo worked as a War Correspondent in the South African Boer War, served his country in khaki in the 1st World War, was an allround adventurer, newspaper editor, practiced law as a solicitor in Sydney, was a radio broadcaster on ABC Radio 2BL and 2FC.
Banjo’s most famous work is Waltzing Matilda – its writing and its history is a story within itself.
This Exhibition has on display a whole host of first editions, original letters, Paterson memorabilia, books, magazines and exciting items of the period, as well as fascinating hands-on items.
There are collectables from the city to the bush – all associated with and relating to Paterson poems and the era.
