Ayres & Graces – Australian Brandenburg Orchestra

Sun November 1 at 5:00 pm

On Sunday 1 November 5pm, join the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra for the special digital premiere of Ayres & Graces on the orchestra’s digital stage, Brandenburg One.

Celebrating chamber music from the English and French Baroque, Ayres & Graces blends stunning imagery curated by Australian designer Silvana Azzi Heras with a period music program that spans both sides of the English Channel.

Opening amongst the French nobility in Paris be enthralled by musical pieces performed uniformly in the style of Jean-Baptise Lully, the fashionable director of music at the Court of the ‘Sun King’ Louis XIV. From the first opéra-ballet, L’Europe Galante Suite, to the rowdy ‘Entée des Zéphyrs’, travel with the Brandenburg through the streets, theatres and lavish palaces of late seventeenth-century France.

Later, step into the centre of eighteenth-century London boasting a cosmopolitan concert life and growing market for music-making in wealthy households. With a program featuring the likes of Playford’s ‘Strawberries and Cream’ from The English Dancing Master (1657), highlighting the diverse musical richness of the city at the time, discover the sounds that attracted entrepreneurial musicians such as composer George Frideric Handel.
Featuring heavenly trio sonatas, pastoral folk songs and intimate chamber music, be swept away on a joyful musical journey this November.

Digital concert duration approximately 60 minutes
