EOIs open: VISION 20/50 an (im)possible festival

Vision 2050 logo on Creative Hub Infinty wall (500 x 300 px)

Closes 5pm Thursday 11 April 2024.  Calling Central West* artists to imagine an artwork that could be made in the year 2050, that speaks to a radically aspirational vision for a possible future for our region.

It’s the year 2050 and it’s the launch of the NSW Central West’s region-wide new festival of arts and culture – VISION 20/50.

But what does the future look like for the Central West NSW region? Who are the artists in this festival and what is the work that they are making? How has the world and the region changed and what role does art play in engineering our future?

As part of marking 50 years of Arts Outwest, we are celebrating with a hypothetical festival VISION 20/50 an (im)possible festival.

We are calling on Central West* artists to imagine an artwork that could be made in the year 2050, in the NSW Central West, that speaks to a radically aspirational vision for a possible future for our region.

We also invite the community to six creative workshops this March and April to help develop ideas for proposals.

We are looking for artists with the capacity to imagine big meaningful, impactful ideas for new art, people who can imagine an aspirational future for our region and the art in it.

How does it work?

  1. Public workshops open to anyone in the region to ferment ideas.
  2. Expressions of interest close 11 April 2024.
  3. Up to 8 artists and their ideas selected for further development – working with an acclaimed futurist in a weekend residency.
  4. Working with top photographers, film makers and designers from the region the selected artists will produce mock-ups and promotional materials (or whatever best showcases them – we’ll have to wait and see!) for their (im)possible projects or artworks.
  5. Works launched at an actual real-life festival event in December 2024 and online.
