The work of a talented cohort of Foundations regulars is on show in their current exhibition ‘Creative Foundations’ which opened 15 August at Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba.
This exhibition brings together seven artists who are part of a growing creative community at The Foundations Portland – a former cement works in regional NSW, now transformed into a vibrant arts precinct.
Artists are: Elisabeth Cummings, Harrie Fasher, Kim Fasher, Jody Graham, Jennifer Leahy, Annabel Mason and TC Overson.
Creative Foundations brings together seven artists who are part of a growing creative community at The Foundations Portland – a former cement works in regional NSW, now transformed into a vibrant arts precinct. Set among limestone lakes and regenerated bushland, the site offers residencies, studios, and collaborative opportunities.
BMCC chatted with Harrie Fasher for InSight Magazine and asked her about those featured in this significant exhibition:
“All seven artists have made work at The Foundations; contributing to the strength
in networks of women and female creatives that I hold so dear. It is noted throughout history the successes of women working together; building community with a very egalitarian structure. They support, inspire, and protect me in various ways. Working alongside me in full scale production, ensuring that I rejuvenate and refill the creative well; and acting as a sounding board, it is comforting to know that I am not alone!”
‘Creative Foundations’ runs 16 Aug – 5 Oct at Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba.
