Cementa multi-year Creative Australia funding 2025-28

Cementa is now a Creative Australia Visual Arts and Craft Leadership Organisation. This is the first time the Kandos based contemporay art program has received federal multi-year funding and supports their ambition set at the start of 2023 to create a sustainable foundation for our expanding program.

Creative Australia is the Australian government organisation that replaced the Australia Council for the Arts.

“We would like to thank our small team and Board for all the work that went into this outcome, and to our community of artists, audiences, patrons, sponsors and partners who support us. We are thrilled to have the support of Creative Australia alongside our principal partner, Create NSW.

“As this new funding commences in 2025, we need to raise the funding to make it through 2024, and so we are launching an Artist Fund, to support artist fees, project costs and artist-led roles leading up to Cementa24. We are delighted to announce that, through the Plus1 fund, Creative Australia has pledged to match every dollar we raise in the next four months towards our Artist Fund*

The start of 2024 means that preparations for Cementa24 are well underway. Our sixth festival is happening 19-22nd September, 2024, guest curated by Daniel Mudie Cunningham and our First Nations Curatorium (Jo Albany, David Doyle and Jodie Herden). Cementa has hosted more than 30 artists in residency in Kandos over the past year and looks forward to welcoming over 15 more. Many of our residency artists have been taking over Cementa’s Instagram during their stay to offer a first glimpse into their process. Check out their adventures by following our Instagram!
