Cementa Art Auction

wayout front-71 Angus Kandos

Launches Feb 24 to 6 March. Cementa Inc is excited to announce the very first online Cementa Art Auction, launching February 24, 2022 on as the final phase in fundraising to purchase WAYOUT Artspace.

The auction forms the final phase of Cementa’s four month fundraising campaign to purchase WAYOUT Artspace – the original social hall located on the main street of Kandos. Over the last two years, Cementa has built WAYOUT into a vibrant, regionally situated, artist-run contemporary art space. After nine years of operation, the not-for-profit arts organisation aims to secure a sustainable foundation for its artist-run programs and establish WAYOUT as an ongoing platform for regional participation in the arts.

Our campaign has already exceeded our expectations, with $55,000 raised in October through a public appeal facilitated by the Australia Cultural Fund – exceeding our initial target of $20,000. Cementa was also successful in securing $90,000 from the NSW Government’s Creative Capital Fund in December. This leaves Cementa in snatching distance of our target of $190,000.

“The purchase of this building will establish a permanent foundation for Cementa. This will allow us to evolve our unique approach to developing regionally based contemporary art through socially-engaged and experimental practises that directly involves our community as collaborators in our creative endeavour”, says Creative Director, Alex Wisser.

“Aside from the flood of support we have received from our community through our public appeal and the generous endorsement of our project from Create NSW, it has been the enthusiastic contribution of all the artists we have approached that has been so gratifying, expressing to us the high value that the artists themselves place on the work that we are doing.”

With only $45,000 remaining to meet our target, Cementa will hold an online auction from February through the generous auspices of and with support from Artist Profile and Art Almanac. Bidders will have ten days to bid on works from an amazing list of Australian artists.”

The Cementa Art Auction launches on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 at and runs for ten days until Sunday 6th
