2019 nominations close October 11.  Recognizing Bathurst area locals aged 14-20 who have distinguished themselves in the arts.

Bathurst Arts Council invites applications for the Youth Arts awards. These are community awards recognizing young creative individuals aged 14 to 20 living in the Bathurst Regional Council Area who have distinguished themselves in their particular field of the arts.

The Bathurst Arts Council/2BS GOLD Youth Arts Awards are a well respected tradition established with 2BS Gold many years ago. Many past recipients have gone on to excel in their chosen careers in part due to their recognition and performance exposure.

Nominees will be selected by the Bathurst Arts Council Committee to perform/present at the Youth Arts Awards Showcase concert at BMEC on Monday 25th November 2019. Each participant will receive a certificate and a cheque to further their arts endeavours.

From this concert three finalists will be selected to move to the next stage.

The chosen three finalists will then perform/present on Monday 9th December 2019 at the Bathurst Regional Council Citizen and Young Citizen of the year event.  The Bathurst Youth Arts Awards Scholarship winner will be selected by the panel after this event. The three finalists will again perform/present as part of the 2020 Australia Day events where the winner of the Annual Bathurst Youth Arts Awards Scholarship will be announced. The winner will receive a $1000 Scholarship to be applied to furthering career opportunities.

Anna McPhail (pictured) is the current Youth Arts Awards winner. She is a highly accomplished pianist, and has been studying the piano from an early age. Many opportunities have presented themselves for Anna to enrich her musical career through YAA.. Our nominees are given many opportunities to perform at Bathurst Arts Council events. Last week Anna, along with four other past YAA participants  made  guest appearances at the highly successful “Rhapsody In Blue Dinner Concert” where they played solo pieces and were part of the performance of the Rhapsody in Blue.

Applications for the Bathurst Youth Arts Awards are closing on 11th October. For further information visit the Bathurst Arts Council website and download an application form.
