Critical stages’ touring program has returned for 2021/22 with the support of Create NSW.
Just as in previous years our community touring productions are available for a limited number of date, and each show comes with subsidised costs, tech support, and as much marketing collateral and support as we can provide.
All we need is a space to perform in and your assistance in engaging audiences in your community.
Scroll on down to read more about the two wonderful new works we have available for touring in late 2021 and throughout 2022, and then get in touch with myself or Emma Corrick (firstname.lastname@example.org) to start a conversation about bringing these shows to where you are.

END OF WINTER
by Noëlle Janaczewska
Director: Kate Gaul
Composer: Nate Edmondson
Performed by Jane Phegan
Presented by Siren Theatre Co and Critical Stages Touring
In hot, bushfire-prone Australia, our winters are becoming warmer and shorter, and our changing environment threatens to erase the season altogether. End of Winter is about the places the writer goes in search of the cold weather she loves. It is stories of female explorers, memories of white Christmas’, and trips to remote locations (the one’s that aren’t for tourists, but for travellers).
Reuniting the same creative team behind the critically-acclaimed Book of Maps, End of Winter is a poignant, heartwarming, and occasionally bittersweet exploration of the changing world around us. We began developing End of Winter with Kate and Noëlle in late 2020, when we welcomed the team into the #ClimateAction Digital Showcase. A beautifully presented filmed reading of excerpts from the play, including the opening scene, are available for you to watch now in the CST Screening Room.

Telethon, originally commissioned by Auckland Live, is an interactive theatrical event where members of the community star in a telethon, live-on-stage, raising money and awareness for a cause in your community. The 2-hour live show combines traditional elements of an old school telethon with modern games and technology to create a hilarious, heartfelt, and entertaining show that celebrates the your town.
The event is presented with Kip Chapman’s signature interactive style, bringing the audience right into the action and making them the heroes. An event host invited audience members to be part of the telethon, and part of the show. They’re needed to build a bridge out of cardboard, do a jazzercise work-out, join the audience choir, or work the phone bank. Along the way our host teases out quirky facts about the town and its people, building their personalities into the heart of the work. The show ends with an all-in celebratory musical number that is filmed and shared with the whole community.
Highly engaging, with outcomes the whole community will benefit from, Telethon is built around your special place in Australia, with a creative team working with you to create a truly memorable theatrical experience.
