Arts OutWest supports: INVINCIBLE 2020

The owner of Tremain’s Mill, Stephen Birrell invited artists to hold an end of  year group exhibition in the Tremain’s Mill art precinct.

The exhibition will close out what has been an extremely challenging year for the arts on a high and happier note.

Participants: Karen Golland, Julian Woods, Nicola Mason, Stephen Hogan, Margaret Hogan, Annabelle Joseph and Fiona Edmeades.

Saturday 5 December 10am till the evening and Sunday 6 December 10am-1pm.
Tremain’s Mill precinct and gallery. Keppel Street, Bathurst.

Karen Golland will create a kitschMASS theatre set featuring her most colourful Australian themed sculptures for families to have their photos taken in. The work gently mocks the consumerism associated with the festive season while also celebrating the decorative rituals that accompany Christmas, often bringing families together to create large-scale kitsch installations in and around their homes. She will also make a set of the kitschest Christmas decorations you have ever seen.

Julian Woods will create a durational performance work “Feast and Fire” collecting people’s personal stories with food and feasts around Christmas time.A lamb will be cooked over coals for several hours and a feast prepared for sharing on Saturday night. This will be a ticketed event and any funding will go towards subsidising the tickets. During the preparation and cooking, discussions about festivals and feasts will take place. The work looks at sharing of tales, memories, and hospitality, as well as religious elements. On Sunday, Julian will set up a table with buckets of wheat berries and a hand grinder to do the first iteration of his work ‘The Daily Grind’. As part of this performance, Julian will share a sourdough starter with people he talks to.

Nic Mason will have paintings on display and for sale within the gallery and will be painting en-plein air in the precinct over the weekend.

Stephen Hogan will have sculptures on display and for sale throughout the precinct.

Margaret Hogan will have paintings on display and for sale in the gallery and will be painting en-plein air in the precinct over the weekend.

Annabel Mason will have drawings on display and for sale in the gallery and will be painting en-plein air in the precinct over the weekend.
