Bathurst based Arbour Theatre Company has received funding to further develop ‘Ama & Nana’ by local writer Disapol Savetsila.
Ama & Nana is a new Australian play written in, about, and for Bathurst NSW. The play follows two older women who have been side-lined by their families and by society. Nana, an Anglo-Australian, has thrown herself into a conservative populist movement that threatens to take over the town. Ama, a Chinese-Australian migrant, has retreated into a self-imposed isolation… Can they find a way to belong?

With funding from Create NSW’s Creative Steps Program, Ama & Nana will receive three stages of creative development, taking the play from its initial first draft to a production-ready state.

”At the end of this development, we will present our progress with a Work-in-Progress showing at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) in October 2025.”
