Arts OutWest engages with communities in the central west
to deliver and facilitate projects in our region. The following projects
are an example of some of the work created by or with the help of this organisation.
Do you live in the Central West region of NSW? Are you between the ages 12 and 24? Do you want to have a voice in your community, develop new youth projects or work with the media? The new ArtsOutwest Young Consultants KickStart Project is all about giving responsibility and opportunities to Young People (12-24 yrs) so that they can influence and shape a program of arts activities in their region. ArtStart
NSW Government through the Department of Education and Training offers a range of initiatives for 12 – 24 year olds tailored to their differing abilities, needs and interests. ArtStart, which happens every second year, is one of the initiatives designed to achieve this. ArtStart aims to assist young people to increase their options to achieve high quality and equitable outcomes from education and training through involvement in the arts and cultural areas. Activities include: Skills Development, Community Cultural Development, Festival and Events.

2009 ArtStart program This year hundreds of young people from the Central West got skilled-up at ArtStart Youth Arts and Skills workshops. Happening every two years, ArtStart is a state government initiative funded by TAFE NSW and managed in the Central West by Arts OutWest. It provides skill building and community networking opportunities for young people aged 12 to 24. Find details on local projects at the NSW ArtStart website: www.artstart.com.au

2005 ArtStart Workshops
The ArtStart Program for 2005 targeted the performing arts, most particularly physical theatre and circus and all allied arts and technically based skills. Read more...
Bathurst Art & Health Project
The pilot Bathurst Art & Health Project is funded by The Australia Council for the Arts, Arts NSW and Greater Western Area Health Service. The project got underway in March 2008 and includes both fixed artworks created for the new hospital buildings in Bathurst and ongoing arts programs with and for the Bathurst health service.

Central West Creative Industries Survey
2008 - Arts OutWest, with funding and support for the NSW Department of State and Regional Development, are undertook the largest and most comprehensive survey yet undertaken of the creative industries in the central west of NSW. The survey was undertaken by The Western Research Institute (WRI).

2008/2009 Arts OutWest was funded by the Australia Council for the Arts Communiuty Partnerships Board to udnertake four forums in the region around developing arts and disability partnerships, with information gatehred at the forums to lead into a regional strategy.
2008 The International Day of People with a Disability will be celebrated on and around December 3, 2008. Applications close September 1 for funding (up to $500 per project) for arts events celebrating the day. Read more...

Central West Contemporary Aboriginal Dance Development Project
The 2008 Central West Contempoary Aboriginal Dance Development Project is funded by The Australian Council for the Arts. The project will opperate in Cowra, Kelso, Condobolin and Wellington, developing the skills of talented indigenous dancers in those areas through workshops with dancer/ choreographer Jo Clancy. The groups came together for a performance at Wellington High School in December 2008. A DVD film of the project was also created.

In SITE Out is a temporary, ephemeral Art event held every two years at the Orange Botanic Gardens. In SITE Out wil not be held in 2009.

2007 - The 3rd biennial In SITE Out event was held at the Orange Botanical Gardens, October 26 - November 18, 2007. It featured exhibitions, workshops, an artists symposium and an arts market. Schools are invited to take a free tour around the gardens with one of the participating artits; Artists are invited to the engaging professional symposium on November 3&4, 2007. Read more ...
2005 - In SITE Out 2005 was a three week exhibition of site-specific works in the natural undulating 17 hectare site of the Orange Botanic Gardens. Read more...

combined the Foundation’s acronym with the regional isolation of
the schools involved and the fun/crazy nature of their students’
