Photo gallery: nature inspired art workshops

Filed : Lachlan Health Service Culture & Arts Program, Projects .

The combination of time spent with nature and time spent making art is hugely relaxing and satisfying, just look at these workshop participants in Parkes.

The uplifting and nurturing power of nature has been the inspiration for artworks created for the new Parkes Hospital in a series of six free workshops (running May 18-June 22).

This inaugural art workshop project was initiated by Arts OutWest in partnership with the Lachlan Health Service and Parkes Shire Library.

Called ‘Through the Looking Glass – Reflections on Nature’ these six fortnightly workshops have involved participants sketching and photographing imagery and ideas sourced from and inspired by the natural environment. They’ll then develop these into drawings and paintings. One artwork from each participant will be gifted to the hospital after the workshops. A number of works will be developed into printed decals for installation in the hospital.

These workshops are now full but you can take a sticky-beak at what the participants have been doing in our photo gallery. Photos by Jay-Lee Zagrovic for Arts OutWest.
