Parkes Waste to Art Competition
Waste to Art is a community art exhibition and competition showcasing imaginative works made from reused and recyclable waste materials.
Closes Monday 11 April

Banjo Paterson Writing Awards
Short Story – $1,000 first prize; Open Poetry with $1,000 first prize; Bush Poetry  – $500 first prize; and the ABC Central West Radio Children’s Writing Awards first prize is $200.
Closes Friday 15 April

Hidden in Rookwood
Inviting artists to respond to the themes surrounding the Rookwood site, including history, culture, remembrance and love.
Closes Monday 18 April

Landscapes of Forbes Shire
In conjunction with the Australia wide Heritage Festival, an art competition in painting, drawing and photography. The winning painting or drawing receives an acquisitive prize from the Forbes Shire Council.

Yvonne Jenkins Memorial Award – Lithgow & District Family History Society
An opportunity to write about your favourite grandparent, their story and perhaps the reason they are a ‘favourite’.

The LitLink Residential Fellowship
Offers writers and illustrators of fiction and narrative non-fiction living in regional NSW and Sydney Surrounds a two-week creative residency at Varuna the National Writers House in the Blue Mountains.

LITERARY

Barbara Jeffries Award
The Barbara Jefferis Award is for “the best novel written by an Australian author that depicts women and girls in a positive way or otherwise empowers the status of women and girls in society”.
Closes Monday 2 May

Ray Koppe Young Writers’ Residency
Open to writers who have not yet had a full-length work published and have a limited publication history of short works.
Closes Monday 2 May

Catholic University Prize for Poetry
The ACU Prize for Poetry will be awarded for outstanding poetry with the theme ‘Loving Kindness’.
Closes Monday 6 June

Dorothea McKellar Poetry Awards
Six individual and two schools’ categories plus Multicultural NSW Award. Optional theme is ‘Waiting’.
Closes Thursday 30 June

The Grieve Project
The Grieve Project is a national prose and poetry competition on the subject of grief. We invite people to submit essays or stories up to 500 words and poems up to 36 lines.

Oberon Waste to Art Competition
Oberon Waste 2 Art Competition celebrates the re-use and recycling of waste across the NetWaste region through arts and crafts. This year’s theme is the “Year of Used Tyres”

Henry Lawson Festival of Arts Art Competition & Photography Competition
Statuettes presented to winners in a variety of categories.
Closes Friday 20 May

Windmill Trust Scholarship for Regional NSW Artists
Supports regional NSW professional artists who need financial assistance in advancing their career. One scholarship of $5,000 awarded in the area of painting, printing, sculpture or drawing.

William Fletcher Visual Arts Travelling Fellowship for Emerging Artists
Applications are now open for a residency at the British School at Rome to be taken from April to June in 2017. There are two other prizes, each being a three week term at Bundanon.

Corner Store Gallery Black & White Group Exhibition
“Black & White” is a group exhibition in which selected artists will exhibit original artworks of any medium based on the theme “black & white”.

Paddington Art Prize
A $25,000 National acquisitive prize for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape, plus additional NON-ACQUISITIVE PRIZE of $5,000 for a young artist aged 18-30.
Closes Saturday 10 September

Wellington Jazz & Sculpture Festival
An open call for submissions to a sculpture exhibition to be held in conjunction with the Wellington Jazz Festival in September 2016. Artists may create works in the theme of “Sound and Movement”.
