The opening also coincides with the first night of the Lithglow Light Show that will showcase the Blast Furnace by night and mark its re-opening for public use.

Opening Event: Saturday 12 May 2018 starting at 4:00pm.

The official opening by Mr Ray Christison, President of the City of Greater Lithgow Mining Museum and historical archaeologist, is being held to mark the completion of upgrade works and the re-opening of the Blast Furnace site for public use.

The Lithgow Blast Furnace works commenced in 2014/15 and involved Stage 1 repair and remediation works to remaining brick ruins and Stage 2 Masterplan works, just completed, to provide safe and accessible visitor access, together with a new interpretive strategy.

Council has undertaken these works to make the blast furnace safer and with an improved visitor experience and so that it can be the anchor for cultural heritage tourism to Lithgow.
