National Indigenous Story Awards 2018

Awards for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander storytellers. Stories can be spoken, sung, written prose or poetic form. They can be fictional, creative, historical, personal, political and more.

FIRST PRIZE: $5,000
SECOND & THIRD PRIZE: $1,000

The Indigenous Story Project hosts Indigenous stories across many forms. It aims to provide an opportunity to gather, (re)generate, and host stories, and thus knowledges, through spoken word, in music, in film, in visual arts, writing, and all dynamic multimedia forms.

The Indigenous Story project welcomes contributions; large-scale to small, including independent creativity captured on mobile phones and other hand-held devices, and other technologies. All contributions are moderated.

WRITTEN WORK
Please submit work in word doc or pdf format. (maximum 5000 words)

AUDIO RECORDINGS
Please submit via Soundcloud

How to upload:

  1. Create a YouTube or Vimeo account.
  2. Upload your sound file.
  3. Choose privacy settings. Private uploads can be shared with only people you share the link with.
  4. Please send us a link to your recording.

VIDEO
If you would like to submit a video of yourself performing your story, please submit via YouTube or Vimeo.

JUDGES
The foundational judges, Sandra Phillips (UTS) and Alison Ravenscroft (La Trobe University), will be joined by Bruce Pascoe (UTS).
