Waste 2 Art Competition Open for 2018
Mon April 23 at 12:00 pm - Tue April 24 at 4:00 pm
Entries are now open for the 2018 Waste 2 Art community art competition.
The initiative was designed to showcase creative works made from reused and waste materials, encouraging the audience to think about reducing, reusing and recycling waste.
This year’s theme is Polystyrene, however artworks can be made from any waste materials.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said managing waste is a community issue and this competition challenges the way we view waste.
“This exhibition and competition is a wonderful opportunity for entrants to showcase their artistic abilities and share creative ideas about waste re-use and reduction. Last year there was a wonderful array of creative works submitted by everyone from school students to professional artists,” he said.
There are great prizes on offer and there is a category to suit all skill levels. The entries will be shown at a local exhibition. Winners from the local exhibition will be entered into the regional exhibition. Two free workshops to inspire prospective school-age entrants will be held at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery during the April school holidays on April 18.
Entries for the competition are open until April 24. Visit www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au for an entry form and details. Artworks should be submitted on April 23 and 24 between 12pm and 4pm at BMEC.
