Orange Regional Gallery School Holiday Workshops

MAKING FACES – Cartooning with Matt Caulfield
Tuesday 9 July 2019, 10am – 12pm
Ages 8+
Cost: $25
East Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Artist and educator Matt Caulfi eld is back with this popular
workshop. Young artists will develop new skills while learning
about the wonderful world of cartoons and caricatures. Lucky
students may even get their portrait drawn by Matt!

BUBBLE & BLOT MONSTERS with Cecilie Knowles
Wednesday 10 July 2019, 10am – 11:30am or 12:30 – 2pm
Ages 6+ (5+ with an adult)
Cost: FREE
East Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Taking inspiration from Catherine Newton’s glass work in
Mum’s Hug young artists will use their breath to create a tribe
of colorful monsters. The workshop will include a mini tour of
the exhibition.
Things could get messy! Don’t forget your apron.

LIFE DRAWING with Laretta Goodacre
Thursday 11 July 2019, 10am – 12pm
Ages 10+
Cost: $25
East Room, Orange Regional Gallery
A life drawing workshop for young artists interested in learning
how to draw people. Laretta will share all the best hints
and tricks for drawing realistic fi gures from life in fun and
expressive ways – a valuable skill for any artist!

WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE – Mixed Media Landscape with Laretta Goodacre
Tuesday 16 July – 10am – 12pm
Ages 8+
Cost: $25
East Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Taking inspiration from Tim Allen’s wild landscapes in his
exhibition Immersion young artists will create their own wild
place using cardboard, collages and crayon. The workshop will
include a mini tour of the exhibition.

BUBBLE PAINTING – Drop-in activity
Wednesday 17 July 2019, between 10am – 12pm
Suitable for children 3+
Cost: FREE
East Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Drop into our workshop space and make a colorful bubble
painting inspired by Catherine Newton’s glass work in Mum’s
Hug.
Please note that an art educator will be available to
assist but this is a self-guided activity – children must be
accompanied by an adult at all times.
Things could get messy! Don’t forget your apron.

SOFT SCULPTURE with Cecilie Knowles
Thursday 18 July 2019, 10am – 1:00pm
Ages 11+
Cost: $25
West Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Create your own soft sculpture using re-purposed fabric, wool
and felt in this 3 hour workshop for older children/teens. Learn
basic hand and machine sewing construction techniques
and how to use embroidery to create detail. Each student will
design and start a sculpture they can fi nished at home. All
materials are supplied but students should bring along a small
selection of scrap fabric (old clothing, fabric off-cuts etc) that
can be shared amongst the group.

HUG BUGS & CUDDLE MONSTERS
with Cecilie Knowles
Friday 19 July 2019, 10am – 12pm
Ages 6+
Cost: $25
West Room, Orange Regional Gallery
Taking inspiration from Catherine Newton’s glass work in
Mum’s Hug young artists will design their own ‘Hug Bug’ or
‘Cuddle Monster’ using paint pens. Children will transfer their
design onto a fabric cushion/softie they can take home and
HUG. The workshop will include a mini tour of the exhibition.

Please take note of the age requirements when booking.
For workshops over an hour please pack a snack and
something to drink. Children will require art-friendly
clothing/apron and sturdy enclosed shoes to participate.
