Grenfell Garden Club Poppy Project
Thu July 5 at 8:00 am - Fri October 5 at 5:00 pm
The Grenfell Garden Club are staging a Poppy Project to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day, which will include an exhibition in the Grenfell Art Gallery. We are inviting artists to enter their painting of a poppy or poppies on canvas (as per the conditions of entry on form). Prize money is $500 with a People’s Choice award of $100. Entries close on Friday 5th October, with works to be received by Sunday 14th October. These will be judged and displayed for a six week period. Works can be sold or NFS.
Included in the project as well, is the knitting and crocheting of hundreds of poppies to be displayed in the Gallery and shop windows, poppy posters painted by our primary school students, poppy craft by our Pre schoolers, as well as the planting of hundreds of poppy seeds throughout the town and villages . These will create an explosion of color throughout town and we invite visitors to come for a drive to Grenfell in October/November and enjoy the vision.
