Carrawobitty Writing Retreat

Following is a brief bio of our incredibly qualified facilitator……

Dr Rae Luckie is an experienced workshop facilitator, mentor and manuscript assessor. She is a qualified teacher with a PhD in auto/biographical writing, her expertise is in the field of
lifewriting/creative nonfiction (autobiography, biography, memoir), prose poetry, historical fiction and family history. In 2017 she completed a Graduate Diploma in Local, Family, and Applied History and is currently a Master of History candidate at UNE.

The current manuscript assessor for the NSW FAW, she has judged the biennial FAW Walter Stone Award for Lifewriting since 2010. Her passion is working with writers, however her published works are included in Best Australian Stories 2004; The Complete Blokes and Shed; Stories of Complicated Grief, and No Thanks or Regrets. In 2001 she won the Partners in Crime ‘Queen of Crime’.

In 2018 Rae was the keynote speaker and workshop presenter at the Society of Women Writers; facilitated life writing workshops in Narooma, Cootamundra, Gundagai, Young, and Temora; mentored at the Far South Coast Writers’ Kianinny retreat; presented a paper at the Speculative Biography conference at Noosa and facilitated a workshop on editing life writing for the Society of Editors NSW.

Rae is looking forward to visiting Carrawobitty Rural Retreat again; and she is delighted to have the opportunity to work with writers in this beautiful historic location.
