Call for interest – Bathurst Upholstery Workshop
Sat September 28 - Sun September 29
There was a lot of interest shown in another 2 day upholstery workshop in the coming months. So I thought it appropriate to put out a call for interest in running another one.
Please see information below and let me know if you would be interested, (or would like to reserve a place) and which dates, would work for you.
Possible dates would be either:
September (28th & 29th)
November 9th & 10th.
At this point the venue is unconfirmed possibly at Tremains Mill, it was a great venue for the December 2018 workshop and is a beautiful space. Alternatively, I will source another venue in Bathurst.
I’ve included a course description and pricing below for your reference. Also included are some snapshots of the May workshop in action at the Bathurst Heritage Trades Trail and previous students’ finished chairs; for your interest.
This course offers a wonderful introduction to the practical and traditional craft of upholstery. Experience the delight and satisfaction that creating something by hand brings to your life.
Learn new skills and have some fun during this two-day, bring-your-own-chair upholstery workshop. You will be taught the techniques required to restore a chair of your own during the course and acquire the confidence to tackle new projects on your own.
You will learn the correct and safe procedures on how to strip and reupholster your chair. There will be discussion and support regarding different approaches to restoring timber chair frames. A variety of techniques and materials for timber finishes will be discussed.
Tuition is tailored to each individual project, however demonstrations will be given to the group for every technique covered during class: in this way, you will be introduced to a broader set of skills, above and beyond the techniques needed to complete your own project.
Tips for choosing your chair:
2. Choose something that has one or two flat planes – a seat and a back – as curves and arms are more complex and take longer to achieve.
Course fees are $340 for both days. This includes most materials and use of tools during class,
for upholstering your chair. Foam and other stuffings can be bought in class on a per usage basis. Top fabric is not supplied, please be in touch if you would like help working out how much fabric your chair will need
Please contact me with an image of your chair (from a few different angles) or if you would like to discuss your chair project and to book your place.
Classes are limited to a maximum of 7 places.
