Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge
16 – 23 April 2018
Plans are being devised by local residents, school and community groups to extend the magnificent hay bale artworks throughout the villages of Blayney and Bathurst for this year’s Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge.
Now in its third year, Blayney Shire Council, the Blayney Town Association (BTA) and the local village progress associations of Barry, Newbridge and Hobbys Yards, proudly support the annual community event. Organisers are encouraging locals along the B2B cycling route from Blayney to Bathurst to nominate their interest to build a hay bale a sculpture by 2 April 2018.
“It’s estimated more than 5,000 visitors and locals will travel to the area to see this year’s Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge. I’m sure they will be surprised at the creative art displays, decorated hay bales and sculptures that are expected to pop up in paddocks from Monday 16 April in a ‘Tour de France’ style warm welcome,” Cr Ferguson said.
The Blayney Hay Bale Art Challenge will officially start from 16 April – 23 April 2018. Artwork will be judged and winners announced on Tuesday 17 April. Local business vouchers will reward the tremendous effort of entrants to the value of $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third. Thanks to local business sponsor, Mid West Concrete for their contribution of $500 towards prizes.
The People’s Choice Award will feature again this year, enabling the visitors and residents to vote for their favourite entry via Blayney Shire Council’s Facebook page. The entrant with the most likes, comments and shares on the competition post, will win a local business gift voucher.
Expressions of interest now open and should be submitted by 2 April 2018 on a confidential basis by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org . All entries close by Tuesday, 10 April 2018. Please find more details and the full Terms & Conditions on http://www.blayney.nsw.gov.au/ or Council’s office in Adelaide Street.
