Fri 22 June 2018, at 4:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Friday 22 June 2018 at 7pm at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) with workshop being held at 4pm at the Bathurst LIbrary.
Bathurst Writers SPEAK, SCREAM, HOWL, WHISPER, even SING their words in Australian poetry slam 2018, a liver literary performance program judged by the audience.
Australian poetry slam (APS) heats up across the nation, inviting Bathurst writers to take the stage on Friday 22 June and share their stories.
Writers are given a microphone, a live audience and 2 minutes to impress the judges, chosen randomly from the crown, with their original poetry, hip hop, stories… whatever they do with words.
The ultimate prize? An international tour worth $10k. The Australian Poetry Slam Champion performs throughout 2019 at Byron writers festival, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, Singapore Writers Festival and Hong Kong International Literacy Festival. They also receive publication with Pitt Street Poetry and a writers residency in the NSW Southern Highlands with Bundanon Trust.
Anyone can participate. Twelve year old poet, Solli Raphael, from Coffs Harbour, won the title in 2017.
