In March 2019 it will 20 years since the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre (BMEC) was officially opened.  They’re looking for images of the old hall from pre 1999.

20 years ago the centre was refurbished around the original stage and backstage facilities of the Bathurst War Memorial Hall which had opened in 1965.  On 5 March 5 BMEC will “Party like it’s 1999” to celebrate the 20 year milestone.

The opening events in March 1999 included: a Gala Concert ; Schools Concerts; Rock Concert; Kids Concert, with Theatre for the Very Young and Humphrey B. Bear; a Talent Quest and  the Broken Blade Memorial Service.
BMEC is looking for photos of activities in and around the venue, particularly of the old Bathurst War Memorial hall prior to the 1999 refurbishment. These photos and more will be on display at BMEC from 6 – 14th March. If you have a photo you would like to share please email a scanned copy to kylie.shead@bathurst.nsw.gov.au or bring it into BMEC and we can scan it for you.

BMEC would also like to acknowledge the work of our many volunteer ushers, particularly Jacqui Hickey, Linda Hurford, Roger Hayman and Jane Cox, who have been volunteering with us for the 20 years the venue has been open as well as the community who have supported BMEC.

There will be a celebration of 20 years of BMEC held in City Hall on Tuesday 5 March hosted by Kate Smith, with performances by local duo Smith & Jones, Swing Factor and more. Contact BMEC for further details phone 6333 6161
