Distinguished Educators and Musicians Visiting Orange

The Orange Regional Conservatorium brings some of Australia’s leading musicians and educators to Orange, including Dr Anita Collins, Aura Go, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and the Esitvo Trio.


Dr Anita Collins is an award-winning educator and researcher in music education and brain development. She has interviewed over 100 neuromusical researchers in Canada, USA, Scandinavia and Europe, she is a TEDx speaker and TED-Ed writer and is known for her role as onscreen expert in the ABC’s successful documentary Don’t Stop the Music.

Dr. Collins will be visiting Orange Tuesday 26th February to speak with local teachers and principals, young doctors and members of the public. She will be presenting a talk during the evening covering the links between music education and increased communication, language and problem solving skills in children. The response to this opportunity has been overwhelming with almost all seats reserved already.

Next week also sees the beginning of an exciting collaboration between the ORC, Musica Viva Australia and the Godfrey Turner Memorial Music Trust with acclaimed pianist Aura Go beginning her 2019 Artist in Residence program. Aura will work closely with students, staff and community members during several two week residencies in Orange, presenting workshops, masterclasses, individual tuition and community forums.

This is an exciting new venture bringing world class musicians to regional areas to live and work within the community. To celebrate the start of her residency, Aura will be present a piano recital Friday 1st March 6pm for 6:30pm at the ORC.

The coming weeks will also see one of the country’s most inspiring young chamber music groups, The Estivo Trio visit Orange for a concert and workshop with students, Saturday March 9th. As well the legendary Australian Brandenburg Orchestra’s Regional Tour will present a follow up to last year’s successful Orange performance, Friday 15th March 7pm.
