CASP Project Update – Migay Ngaruu, Welcome Legacy
Arts OutWest traveled to Lithgow yesterday to attend the presentation for the “Migay Ngaruu, Welcome Legacy” project.
Lithgow Community Projects and artist Nyree Reynolds worked with Aboriginal women through a series of workshops to create an artwork which would serve as a legacy to the aims of their community projects and could also be used throughout the community to create welcoming spaces.
At the launch, government and community organisations in the Lithgow area were presented with wall hangings featuring the work in the hope of strengthening partnerships with these organisations by assisting them in providing acknowledgement to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, who live in the local area, as well as acknowledging Lithgow as Wiradjuri Country.
The workshops are funded by Lithgow Community Projects and Arts NSW through the Country Arts Support Programme 2015.
Congratulations to Annette Campbell & the Lithgow Community Projects Team, Nyree Reynolds and all the women involved!
