Australian illustrators on exhibit in Parkes
Event highlight: Visit Parkes Library during May, June and July to experience two stunning exhibitions that celebrate Australian children’s picture books and their creators.
Parkes Shire Library, according to Manager Cultural Education & Library Services Shellie Buckle, is hosting two travelling exhibitions from Books Illustrated.
“Books Illustrated promotes the work of Australian book illustrators. The Library is excited to be exhibiting two amazing collections of limited print illustrations from books families across Australia enjoy reading” said Shellie.
Never be Late for a Parade: An exhibition of book illustrations by Shaun Tan – This exhibition features a collection of illustrations from Shaun Tan’s best-known picture books including The Arrival, The Red Tree, The Lost Thing and the Singing Bones. The exhibit celebrates his unique approach to storytelling through this selection of brilliant images, as varied and fascinating as their narratives.
Join the lazy lions from Graeme Base’s award winning book Animalia and experience a beautiful exhibition of illustrations from many well-loved Australian children’s picture books that showcase a range of illustration styles, media and techniques.
Lazy Lions Lounging in the Library features illustrations from A Bird in the Hand! by Bob Graham; ANZAC Illustrated; Chester & Gil, life is what you make it; Kids Antarctic Art Project a creative collaboration by Alison Lester; Running with the Horses and The Many Story Treehouse.
